Health is essential to ones life, but it costs a lot of money. Should you really have to turn down important health procedures you need because you do not have the money to afford it? Sadly this can happen a lot in today's society as medical procedures can cost an arm and a leg. This is why medical insurance is so important. With medical insurance you can afford to get the very best car you need, so you can live a long and healthy life.

There are two main types of medical coverage: managed care plans and indemnity plans.

• Indemnity- Indemnity allows you to choose any doctor you want. You usually have to pay the medical bills out of pocket and then you will be reimbursed later. This is not the most popular plan; it can get expensive and take a while for you to get reimbursed. But the freedom if choosing any doctor is nice.
• Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) - HMOs provide a list of specific doctors and hospitals that you can use. This provides reduced fees and are commonly used by businesses in their health care plans, but restrict the freedom of choosing.
• Preferred Provider Organization (PPO)- A PPO is a mix in-between a HMO and indemnity. You are still restricted with what doctor you can choose, but you have more options then you would with a HMO.

These are the three most common forms of health care you are going to find. When choosing your health insurance provider you need to decide if you really want to continue seeing the doctors you currently see. If you don't want to leave your doctors and they aren't covered under an HMO or PPO then you make want to take out an indemnity plan. If your doctor is listed under the HMO or PPO then that is a better option because you won't have to pay much money out of pocket.
